Pepsi, Patterdale, DOB 05.07
Homing Requirements: Pepsi needs an experienced terrier home who accepts he needs extender lead control in open spaces due to his chase drive plus shortlead gentle intros with other dogs until he achieves trust. Also a terrier-proof garden with 6' panel fencing and lockable side gates. Awareness and command around front door usage and lower windows secured all times. Terrier owners understand this, when a terrier has keen chase drive with anything that moves!
His Story: Pepsi was bought as the runt of the litter together with his brother to join the family's Labrador. Led the great life out on the moors, but change of circumstance has bought them all into a tight knit community where he has to be kept in a run during business hours. Furthermore because he can/will climb over he is tied up on a rope. He can easily get defensive with new dogs, no damage but now not the flavour of the month in the village. Hasn't coped with sheep, cats, other dogs and cars as wants to chase them all.
Advert: Pepsi was aptly named as he is full of fizz and excitement with those keen bright eyes ready to run, chase and gleefully will get caught up in the moment! Dearly loved and so successful in his former lifestyle, living within his pack, known doggie friends and without care for the concerns of livestock or busy roads! Now circumstance have changed and his chase drive is causing him and his family concerns. Pepsi is neutered, vax'd and chipped.
Pepsi is bright as a button and will offer his family entertainment and joy. He needs to be shielded from himself, in the sense of having awareness behind him in his intros with dogs and support when street walking. He is finding it hard to come to terms with losing his pack and we're hoping Father Christmas will favour his wishes.
