it seems that way doesn't it... I really don't understand it? how long has she been in for now...a week? more? she hasn't even got a blanket...just a horrible plastic 'bed'...I can't stand it. Just checked Marianne and she was picked up on 17 November.

She looks so sad. She's probably wondering what on earth she's done to be there. ;D

i took her a duvet last week, dont know if she was given it , when i go at weekends she is outdoors in pens for veiwing by the public . i know they are taken indoors at night and its hopefully heated ? she sits shivering , but when they bring her out to me , as i insist they do , shes really happy , i tickled her tummy and it doesnt look like shes ever had pups . shes not neutered though. any news on who went today and the outcome?

They clearly haven't given her the duvet you kindly took for her. It's nice to think that she may have it indoors but I'm not holding much hope out for that thought or the heating to be honest.
It's all very odd why this little girl hasn't been able to leave yet. I find the whole sad story quite disturbing and everything surrounding this poor little girls circumstances extremely upsetting.
You've been an absolute gem for this little one Liz and I applaud all that you're doing for her - just seeing you and the recognition she has for you is at least giving her some happiness.
We shall see what tomorrow brings. I wish I was nearer.

It's hard not to feel guilty isn't it, but you mustn't feel bad. I'm just utterly amazed that she's been there for so long and not been 'allowed' to be adopted as yet....it just all seems a bit cloak and dagger. Something not right there..... with any luck they'll be some good news soon. xxxxxxxxx

Possibly prospective owners backed off when they found that the eye problem needs permanent treatment.

What a beautiful little dog. Its so sad she's still there.
I saw your pictures on facebook and have shared the link. Hopefully there will be some good news today. The trouble with the RSPCA is it takes a while to arrange a homecheck..my westie Harvey was from there and it was over 3 weeks between applying for him and bringing him home.

yes , this is it, even if she has a FIRM offer of a home they have to come out and check . so its not going to be before xmas is it it would have to be somone already rspca checked .then they would just ask them to visit with any existing dogs to see how they get on... its a shame they arent more like the dogs trust , they do their best to get dogs fostered wherever possible . why is the rspca so reluctant to do this? ??

Came on here in great trepidation, hoping against hope for some good news of this little girl, but the silence looks ominous ;D Have been racking my brains for a way to help this little Cavalier but can't come up with anything other than (serious) dog-napping at the moment - even that won't be possible because of the weather now. What on earth can anyone do to help get her out of there?

The living conditions look poor for what must be the richest animal charity in the country.

can anyone advise me on fostering /adopting a rescue dog.. i have a one year old cavalier and a nearly 15 year old cat . i was going to wait till ruby was 2 before /if i got another dog, especially as it took a long time for the poor cat to accept a puppy .. im also a registered childminder currently minding a 3 year old who lost her mum last year, i also have a child starting on friday .. its difficult to combine the two, having dogs and new children ,sometimes babies starting . i dont have a seperate room to put the dogs so im always supervising them( more for the dogs sake, shes amazing with kids.. i just feel i would be taking on something i shouldnt at this moment, i knowif i had her even for a day i would get attached and findit hard to give her up .. but im beginning to think no one else will get her so im sentencing her to that place.. will be there on saturday to see her and go from there. does anyone have any advice for me .... its mainly my old cat thats stopping me , shes been with me all those years andi dnt want her to be fearful for her final few.. she showing signsof kidney disease . sorry to ramble i just need some one to tell me it would be fine or it would be a mistake x

I don't know what to do for this little one and feel so helpless too. And now it's snowing too..... . It's not your fault you can't take her on...your first priority is to your animals at home and of course your job. We're all feeling for this little go, I'm finding it hard myself and I haven't even seen her other than in the piccys so it must be awful for you. We've had no news here so all we can do is keep our fingers crossed for her. It's very sad. xxx

Hi All,
I've been keeping an eye on this tread and feel so sorry for her, more so now Ive seen the pics. I'd love to take her but I work full time and don't know what their policies are on this? My mum lives nearby and comes everyday at lunch time whilst walking her two poms to see to my little Chi and elderly pom (who has a eye condition and is on long term steroids for a skin condition, so another eye problem wouldnt be a problem). I just know rescues are reluctant to re-home to full time workers, rather have them lingishing in the cold lonely kennels but ,I do understand some dogs need someone around all day Im just lucky mine sleep all day! If anyone can tell not to enquire because they'd no Id have no chance then I wont but if you think I might be in with a chance Id try to get her out. I also have cats so it be handy to know if she's ok with them.
Fingers crossed for this little doggie

Rubysmum - We can all see that this situation is absolutely tugging at your heartstrings, but it doesn't sound as though it would be at all easy for you to take her on permanently. I was talking to my OH about her this morning, and he reminded me that there must be "hundreds" of similar little souls in distress in puppy farms and neglectful homes throughout the country, especially during this cold weather. We can all only do as much as we reasonably can, and you are already doing more than many Chris (Bonzocat) has been very involved with trying to get this littel girl out of the RSPCA kennel, and knows some of the complicated background. If anyone is thinking of trying to adopt this dog, then it would probably be best to talk to Chris first. There have already been several people who have offered to adopt her permanently, but they have all been rejected - one person was told she was "too old" (at the age of 61). If you look at the Halewood Branch rehoming policy, they do say: It is the RSPCA's Policy not to leave an animal for more than four hours maximum. www.rspcahalewood.co.uk/content/rehomingpolicy.aspI note that this website is not very up to date as the dogs shown for rehoming only go up to October 2010, so no mention of this Cavalier at all yet. Don't suppose she's appeared on Dog Pages or anything similar either?

Well its quite obvious its better for her to be left in a cold lonely kennel block all day than in a warm centrally heated house for more than 4 hours with lots of love and cuddles and good food.

I'm not far behind you Barbara at 60 so I'd better rehome my 3 (perish the thought).

When i had my homecheck for the RSPCA it was just to check the security of the garden. As i already had dogs the woman just looked down the garden..she presumed that having small terriers already they could not get out.
It so sad this little girl is still there..i wish there was something i could do to help.
