Rubes, JRT X (toy size), DOB 12.09 - Gatwick
Homing Requirements: Rubes needs a family who can reassure and build her skills especially outside. She needs a step by step socialization plan and 'friendship building'. Especially urgent for her family to allow her to gain confidence in the surroundings outside her home. Rubes needs a secure garden especially no fox holes! Rubes will need a companionship home she is not going to tolerate being left for long periods - 'got that tea-shirt and it never fitted her!' Needs to build her tolerance of being from the outset. Older aware children.
Her Story: Rubes was bought as a 7 week old pup and grew up in a home with 3 children 7-9 year olds and a JRT x Chihuahua bitch who was 1 year her senior. She was left during the day and had supposedly 2 walks a week. Lost her home as she was barking when left and got out of the garden repeatedly. Has been in a rescue centre since end June 2011 and noted to be very nervous on arrival. Progressed but concerned around other dogs, but did settle with non-reactive dogs. Rubes is neutered, vax'd and chipped. In boarding kennels near Gatwick
Advert: Rubes is a tiny 5 kilogram terrier who can get 'hot under the collar' when feeling out of her depth. She needs to build skills and with calm reassurance she will tune her courage into acceptance and welcome. Rubes has never had a formal training course and was reported to still have problems with housetraining in her home. Quote previous owner "not been properly trained our fault sorry"! Travels well in the car though needs securing.
Rubes is a striking looking dog. She is only 10" to her shoulder and carrying the weight of the world upon them. She needs to accept the presence of other dogs and learn to relax and trust their intentions. A little puppy in an adult’s body, who finds herself in a scary world of barking dogs when all she ever knew was her human family who left her each day to go to work. She cried for more and soon no doubt about it we will be delivering her that family who can take her in hand and deliver her through to succeeding for the first time!
"Please note this dog is currently in boarding kennels and is also available for foster until a 'forever' home is found".
