Seamus, Fell Terrier, DOB 08-07 – Gatwick, Surrey
Homing Requirements: Seamus needs terrier experience behind him. We find terriers can be so misjudged without this understanding and accompanying acceptance of normal terrier ways. Seamus needs careful owners who will always have his safety foremost in their minds; secure garden, secure exits and extender lead use for exercise and short lead around roads and gentle meetings with other dogs. Not for young children unless over six and parents have a convincing history to offer him.
His Story: Seamus was found stray and went into rescue after he had served his time. He was then trusted a tad too much and ended up with a rushed meeting of another dog then boarding kennels who didn't get his terrier mind. He came to us from Northern Ireland and he has shown himself to be a terrier indeed, but not outrageous and in confident hands he is fine. Neutered, chipped and vax'd.
Advert: Seamus is a good looking lad ... with his wire tricolour coat and healthy bright eyes gazing into yours. He is about 17-18" to the shoulder, judged at 2-3 years old. He has wonderful people skills though is untested around children. Given a calm introductory situation he rubs along well walking with other dogs. A terrier lovers dream, but we are looking for more than just dream fullfillment we are looking for a solid skill base to offer him so he succeeds.
Seamus is light in frame and foot. He hasn't got 'keen hunting' instincts as we would have expected. He is easy to manage on the lead. Any owner will have to put a lot of work into him to achieve full fluency outside, but he is a STAR and providing your expectations aren't too high he shouldn't disappoint.
"Please note this dog is currently in boarding kennels and is also available for foster until a 'forever' home is found".
