Bonnie (above left) is an 8 year old Shih Tzu x Lhasa Apso, and Lady (above right) is a 10 year old Shih Tzu x Chihuahua. Bonnie and Lady came into our care when their devoted owner sadly became too unwell to care for them. They are in an Oldies Club foster home in Ashton-in-Makerfield, Greater Manchester, waiting to be offered a new home together.
Settled quickly: Bonnie and Lady settled at their foster home more or less straight away and soon learnt the routine. They are happy to be left alone for a few hours and they just snuggle up for a sleep on the sofa. However, they do adore having company and love being cuddled so we wouldn’t want them to go to a home with full-time workers.
Could live with calm dogs, and cats: Bonnie and Lady are living with two dogs in their foster home and are fine, but Bonnie doesn’t like boisterous dogs as they frighten her. They have lived with cats for a short time previously and apparently just stared at them, so with careful introductions we think they should be fine to live with cats.
Could live with children of 8+ years: Their foster carer says: “They have both been very good with my 8 and 10 year old visitors who stayed overnight. They’ve also met a few toddlers and been fine but I think they’d be better with children 8 or over as they do like peace and quiet”.
Enjoy walks: Bonnie and Lady love their walks and are good on lead and off. They are currently having 3 walks per day plus potters in the garden. Bonnie doesn’t like boisterous dogs coming near her and will run off, but she doesn’t go far, and her foster carer puts her on lead. Lady is OK unless dogs are overly boisterous. “Lady will walk up the path on the Heath and then stop until I pick her up, then when in the woods she sniffs and runs and then walks back down the path no problem. You do have to keep your eye on them and not walk too far ahead of them as they can stop sniffing and as they’re so small you can miss them”.
OK in the car: They yodel a bit at first but then settle down.
Bonnie and Lady’s favourite pastimes: Cuddles, food, walks in the woods, cuddles and more cuddles!
Bonnie and Lady’s dislikes: Just boisterous dogs, as mentioned above. They were fine when it thundered recently.
Bonnie and Lady’s perfect home: They would like a home where they can be lap dogs as they love to snuggle up with you on the sofa. Also somewhere they will get a couple of walks a day as they love to sniff and explore.
Health notes: Bonnie and Lady are neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, wormed and flea-treated. Bonnie had a eye infection which is much better and she’s just finishing the eye cream. Lady had a ear infection and her ears have been cleaned at vets and she’s having ear drops until they’re finished. They both have a fatty lump but the vet advised to leave them alone.
Foster carer’s summary of Bonnie and Lady: “Comical, Cute, Loveable, Snuggly. Bonnie and Lady are adorable little girls; they are no trouble at all and settled in nicely. They like nothing more than to cuddle up with you on the sofa and follow you everywhere. Whoever adopts them will be very lucky indeed as they are loving, sweet girls and very funny too.”
